1. The 2010 FIFA World Cup. Soccer is the world’s favourite sport and not for nothing is it known as the beautiful game. This time the hosts are South Africa. This is the first time the tournament has been held of the continent. The people of South Africa are passionate about football – and it is very much ‘the people’s sport’. Expect a strong performance from the hosts in this tournament of tournaments. 2. The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Held in this sun-drenched Emirate this Grand Prix is one of the newest and the circuit is truly spectacular. This year’s will be second time that Abu Dhabi has played host to the race, and if last years is anything to go by expect some of the most exited racing of the season. The white knuckle ride that is Formula 1 takes on a unique complexion here as the first day-night race. The glamour of this event cannot be denied, and it will certainly be a highlight of this year’s f1 championship and coming as it does on 14 November, it comes at a critical point of the Season!\r\n
3. The English FA Cup final. On the 15 May the world’s eyes will be on Wembley for the daddy of club football cup competitions. Along with the Super Bowl the FA Cup Final is one of the most watched televised sporting events in the world. Tickets are like gold dust, but if you can get them the rebuilt Wembley Stadium is an impressive site. London, home of Wembley Stadium is a city where you will never be short of things to see or do.\r\n
4. The Kentucky Derby. The 2010 Kentucky Oaks and Derby will be held between 30 April and 1 May. Horse racing is called the sport of Kings, and the Kentucky Derby is always a King sized celebration of equestrian excellence. The most important date in the North American racing calendar, the event will see some of the finest horses and jockeys competing. A must for anyone who has an eye for the ponies.\r\n
5. The Commonwealth games. These are known as the ‘friendly games’, but do not expect the competition to be anything but fierce. In 2010 the games are hosted by New Delhi, India and are the most important track and field athletics completion of the year. Open to athletes from around the British Commonwealth keep an eye, if you can, on fastest man on the planet Usain Bolt to see if he can smash some of his own sprint records.
