Australia has always been a popular choice for visitors looking to take an extended working holiday. This is for several reasons. Firstly, as it is such a long way away from the rest of the world and getting there can be expensive it makes sense to stay for a while. Another reason is because it is developed and lastly because they speak English.

Working holidays as part of a gap year or travelling the world are nothing new. In recent years however it has become much harder to pay your way by working as you travel. Largely the harsh economic climate is to blame combined with stricter rules as to who can work where and for how long.
